About The Lawn Guy

The Lawn Guy provides professional lawn care and turf management to homes and businesses across Surrey, North East Hampshire and the Berkshire borders.

Established in 2014 by former professional Greenkeeper Dave Worner, The Lawn Guy was built on the same principles used on golf courses: lawns are managed year-round, not just when they look like they need attention. Just like a golf course, your lawn doesn’t have an off-season — and treating it properly throughout the year is the key to long-term results.

We specialise in lawn care and turf management, not general gardening. Every lawn is assessed on its own merits, with treatments tailored to the grass, soil, usage and time of year — not a one-size-fits-all programme.

Our Approach to Lawn Care

At The Lawn Guy, we believe the key to successful lawn care is a little and often approach.

This applies to everything we do — from feeding and weed control, to aeration, overseeding and seasonal treatments. In some cases, extra work may be needed initially to correct underlying issues, but it’s the consistent, measured approach that keeps lawns healthy, resilient and looking their best year after year.

We don’t just treat lawns — we monitor, assess and adjust them over time. That means fewer recurring problems, better long-term results, and a lawn that continues to improve rather than slipping back.

Lawn care is also a partnership. We’ll always explain what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and how simple things such as mowing, watering and seasonal maintenance can help you get the very best from your lawn.

Experience You Can Rely On

Although The Lawn Guy has been trading since 2014, the experience behind the business goes back much further.

Owner Dave Worner has 30 years’ experience in the green industry, including 18 years working as a professional Greenkeeper. All work is carried out — or directly overseen — by someone with genuine, hands-on experience, not a franchise operative or sales-led system.

We are fully insured, professionally equipped, and operate with the same care and attention you would expect on a quality sports turf surface. The aim is simple: to look after your lawn properly and keep it improving year on year.

About Dave

The Lawn Guy is a family-run business, led by me — Dave Worner.

My career in the green industry began in 1996, and from an early age I knew this was the work I wanted to do. That interest developed into a professional career when I joined Hindhead Golf Club, where I spent 18 years working as a Greenkeeper.

During that time, I studied turf grass management at Merrist Wood Agricultural College, developing a strong understanding of grass plants, soils, drainage, nutrition and long-term turf health.

In 2014, I set up The Lawn Guy to offer something different locally — a non-franchised lawn care service, bringing professional golf-course knowledge and standards to domestic and commercial lawns, with a strong focus on honest advice and customer service.

Alongside running the business, I’ve also spent years helping to educate others about lawn care through social media and video content. In 2017, I worked with Hayter to create a series of lawn care advice videos, and I’ve since worked with manufacturers such as STIHL and Tracmaster, helping to test and review new equipment.

Today, all of that experience goes into helping my clients achieve healthier, better-looking lawns — properly managed, not just treated.

Ready to Improve Your Lawn?

If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, professional lawn care specialist — not a franchise and not a quick fix — I’d be happy to help.
